This park is such a beauty! Especially when the weather is cool/cold. I visited in December when the weather was in the mid 50 degrees.
What a beauty!!! I enjoyed the park and the fact that you can access Bastrop State Park next door! Plenty of trails short and some that are longgggg!
This park was my first one i ever visited but i do not recommend visiting when the Fire Ban is in effect! The travel from Houston was easy and durable within 1 hour from my residence. One thing about the park is that there is a lot of trails. While visiting here I got a chance to see Deers, Snakes and raccoons.
I visited this during Texas Heat Wave so I didn't get the full experience. There is usually alot of water but there had been no rain in days and it has been hot outside for weeks. I only hiked one trail because the temperature outside was HOT! Thank God I hiked with a water supply. I didn't run into any wildlife on the trail.
Unfortunately, I visited this place when there was no water in sight for months! So, I didn't get to see what everyone posts online about Twin Falls. The hike was not worth it since there was no water fall when I traveled. I will try again and hopefully God blesses Austin with enough water so I can see the famous Twin Falls!
I basically traveled to this park to check out the blue-green water. People swim and fish in the water but I wasn't impressed by the water to get in and swim. I stayed in a shelter off the river. The staff was very friendly and even friendlier when they called to let me know I left my walking stick in the shelter.
